Flickr – How to change the “Taken With” properties of your pictures
OK, here’s a quick tip to proudly show to the world the name of your film camera (argentic) if you scanned your films or ektas and uploaded them to flickr.
The “Taken With” property is not editable in Flickr. This feature is stored in the metadata of your picture, a.k.a embedded Exif Data.
In my special case, i’m a big nostalgic of the Rolleiflex 2.8E. I’ve scanned all the ektas i’ve taken with a Nikon Super Coolscan 8000. It’s the default device which appeared in the “taken by” properties after I’ve uploaded the pics into Flickr.

To change that, I’ve used an Exif editing freeware , “Quick EXIF Editor” before uploading the pics to Flickr. It’s simple and allows you to do batch editing (i did that by drag n dropping the 30 jpgs of my scanned ektas into the window).

The pop up menu of the editor allows you to choose and edit each registries of your EXIF metadata. The registries which interests us now is the EquipMake (camera) and EquipModel (model)

Then change the value of each of both registries by entering the name of your real device. After that, you just have to click “Add to queue”, then “Commit changes”.

Tadaaaaa ! The name of your real device will finally appear on Flickr informations after upload. Justice is done.

Of course, with an EXIF Editor you can also change any other registry of your EXIF data.
With this quick edit, any “old camera” users can proudly indicate the native device of the pic without playing with the tags.
The next step should be that any camera specified by a lot of users in Flickr could appear in the camera finder, just for the pleasure of having for example the Rolleiflex 2.8E listed inside.
I’ve written to the Flickr Staff to suggest it, but they kindly answered “Thanks for your suggestion !”.
